A Book Review From a Voracious Reader of Vampires

My local Pizza Hut lady (who runs the drive-thru on 23rd St.) gave me a great review at the Amazon Kindle store on Nov. 7th. Wow! Does this review make you want to read my book, Goddess of the Moon: Mayan World of Vampires?

"In October I received this book as a gift from the author after I had sparked an interest in reading it. I was hooked from the first page and did not put it down until I finished every last page. I don't want
to add any spoilers into this review, because everyone needs a chance to enjoy it for themselves.

In the past few years the same vampire story has been rehashed over and over, I'm glad this novel has changed that path. This is not a typical vampire novel and it throws us into a new world of vampire lore. At just a glance, the story takes place in a vivid and detailed vision of the Mayan Nation where of course human sacrifice is a regular occurance. Also as the readers soon find out, vampires aren't sparkling and perfect lovers, in fact they're pretty hell bent on the destruction of humanity.

This is part of a saga, and I'm excited for the next part.
I'm showing my support of the author and purchasing the kindle edition!"

My first "free" campaign at Amazon Kindle

While I compiled my playlist and wrestled with that, I peeked a few times at the Kindle Reports and saw the number of free downloads of my book that I offered until midnight Pacific time. Last count was 294 people who have downloaded my book, but I get no royalties :( The hubby even mentioned that himself just now. I'm just thrilled that people want to read my book. I'll make it a teaser for the book to follow :)

My book covers that I designed for GOM

I finally came up with a cover for my story that I'm happy with. I'm proud to say that it is my design created with an old version of Corel Photo Paint. One of these days I may stop using it for good because the program keeps crashing on me and did so before I got Windows 7. I had to save the file many times before I was finished.

So now I can devote my time to doing a proper finish for my book, more embellishing and editing. I also changed the subtitle in order to get more hits from people who use search engines. At this point I feel very good. Now if I can just discipline myself to use my spare time to my book writing instead of watching DVDs almost every night.

My paranormal novel: how it all started...

What started out as a fun thing to write a story for my coworker's two girls turned out to be a more serious endeavor. I have been inspired by others to self publish my paranormal romance. And that too, I came upon by accident when I was reading a forum for writers. One writer didn't speak favorably about another author, but the said author was "making her millions". When I checked out this author, she had a great passion for writing, so much so that she got her books out there so fast and didn't edit them as well as she should have. But still her style was very down to earth, easy to read and enjoyable.

One day I was sitting at work, doing my repetitive boring job. My mind sought escape in other things. I thought to myself that I wondered why no one wrote about vampires in Florida, the state where I presently reside. That was the seed that was planted in my mind that began the journey. I am fortunate to have a coworker who happens to be a fan of the Twilight Saga and Vampire Diaries and adores creepy films. She has two young daughters; the older one gives me feed back from a young person's perspective. So it was good to bounce ideas off of them both.

I am presently wrapping up the first novel. It needs more embellishment and a better ending. I also would like to fool around with the cover more. I like using a sepia color, making it look old. But anyway, this blog serves as a presence on the web concerning my writing. I don't yet consider myself a writer. I haven't even taken any special college courses in this field. And I'm a terrible speller. But I've been told that if I connect with people, the formality of higher education doesn't matter. But it wouldn't hurt either. But I have to continue to discipline myself to set aside time for writing and wrapping up this project.
